Volunteer your time as a dog trainer

If you’re a certified dog trainer and would like to spend more of your time helping dogs in need, you can volunteer for the Animal Humane Society. The Animal Humane Society is always seeking caring and compassionate volunteers that can assist their Animal Behavior and Training division.

Whether you are new to this exciting animal career or have been a dog trainer for most of your life, the Animal Humane Society can use your help. The organization can use the help of volunteers to help train dogs. Training dogs help increase an animal’s chance of finding a new home by helping them to improve their behavior skills or help them overcome shyness and fearfulness. The organization needs dog training professionals to assist their Training School by facilitating the learning process and helping students. Finally, the Animal Humane Society can use volunteers to be a part of their “Behavior Helpline” by answering animal behavior problems.

The only prerequisite for these animal training positions is adoption support volunteering. This means that interested volunteers must first volunteer to help find good matches between people and animals that need to be adopted. This program allows volunteers to work with dogs, cats or small mammals on the adoption floor.
